The trains are the point. One story books a place on the Orient Express in its historic days. Another follows the line around the Italian Riviera. There is a magical train that runs through winter, a journey taken on board a model railway, a trip that ends in a hidden fairytale world, and a chance encounter on a train. The Orient Express story is the historic one; the rest range from the everyday to the openly magical. The settings change, but the feeling is the same each time: a seat, a window, a long way still to go, and nothing to do about it but rest.
Six of the show's writers contributed, and Thomas Jones reads all six in the register the podcast uses, written to quiet a busy mind rather than to build toward anything. The interior sound of a train and a low score run alongside every story. The listing pitches the set for falling asleep faster and for getting back to sleep in the middle of the night, and a carriage at three in the morning is a fair place to do either.
