Cost and the ad-free upgrade
Is Bedtime Fan free?
Yes. Bedtime Fan is free to use, with ads. Every fan sound, speed and timer works on the free version — nothing about your sleep is locked behind a paywall.
If you'd rather not see ads, you can upgrade at any time to turn them off.
How do I manage or cancel my upgrade?
Purchases are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, not by us — so you manage them from your device.
On iPhone or iPad: view, change, renew or cancel your subscription through Apple.
On Android: cancel your subscription through Google Play.
How do I request a refund?
Because Apple and Google take the payment, refunds go through them rather than us.
Bought on an Apple device: request a refund from Apple.
Bought on an Android device: request a refund from Google Play.
I paid to remove ads, but I'm still seeing them.
This usually means the purchase hasn't been restored on the device you're using.
On iPhone or iPad: check you're signed in with the same Apple ID you bought with, connect to Wi-Fi, then open Bedtime Fan's settings and tap Restore Purchases. Restarting your phone afterwards helps the change take effect.
On Android: make sure you're signed in to the Google account you bought with — here's how to switch accounts — then restore your purchase from Bedtime Fan's settings.
Worth knowing: Apple and Google's billing systems aren't connected, so a purchase made on an Apple device only works on Apple devices, and the same goes for Android. If you've switched phones, message us and we'll sort you out.
Playing sounds
Does Bedtime Fan work without Wi-Fi?
Yes. Fan sounds play offline — in hotels, at campsites, on cruises, even in airplane mode. Nothing streams, so there's nothing to buffer or drop out.
Will it play all night?
Yes, even with your screen off or while you're using other apps. The sound loops seamlessly, so there's no gap or click to wake you.
It stops only when you pause it, or when a sleep timer you've set runs out.
How do I set a sleep timer?
Set the timer before you drift off and the sound fades out gently rather than cutting off. If you want it to run until morning instead, just leave the timer off.
Can I change the fan or the speed?
Yes. Choose a box fan, desk fan or large fan, then pick low, medium or high — so you can match whatever you sleep next to at home.
You can also swap the fan for soft rain, crickets or a crackling campfire, and mix gentle sleep music underneath any of them.
What happens if I get a phone call?
The sound pauses while your phone rings and for the length of the call, then picks up again on its own once you hang up.
Troubleshooting
The sound stopped in the middle of the night.
First, check your sleep timer — if one is set, the sound is meant to fade out when it ends.
If the timer isn't the cause, force-close Bedtime Fan and reopen it. On iPhone, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause, then flick the app away. On Android, open your recent apps and swipe it off.
Phone power-saving features are the other common culprit: they can shut down background audio to save battery. Allowing Bedtime Fan to keep running in the background in your device settings usually fixes it for good.
Still happening? Tell us what you're seeing — include your phone model and OS version and we'll dig in.
How do I stop notifications waking me up?
Bedtime Fan can mask the sound of a notification, but it can't stop your phone buzzing. Three ways to silence it:
Turn on Do Not Disturb or your phone's Sleep Focus — the option we'd recommend, since alarms still come through.
Turn on Airplane mode, which also saves battery overnight and doesn't affect playback.
Silence your ringer with the switch or button on the side of your phone.
How do I report a bug or request a feature?
We read everything. Send us a note with what happened or what you'd like to see. For bugs, please include your phone model, your OS version and the steps that trigger it — that's usually enough for us to reproduce and fix it.
